Remembering Revell in Potters Bar
Hello I wonder if any of your forum users can help me? I'm doing some research into the history of the Revell plastic model kit company. Revell was founded in the United States, but had a UK operation in Potters Bar in the 1960s and 1970s that made a significant contribution to the overall business - designing kits, manufacturing tools, and moulding kits. However, this contribution is sadly overlooked in current histories of the company. If any of your readers or their family members worked for Revell (GB) in its heyday, I'd really appreciate it if they'd get in touch with their memories, especially if they are prepared to be interviewed. I'm trying to build a picture of Revell (GB)'s activities, ultimately to allow us, the Classic British Kits group of the UK International Plastic Modeller's Society (IPMS-UK), to do justice to its history and create a display of classic Revell GB kits at Europe's largest model show - Scale Model World.
Please contact me by email at: cmatthewbacon@mac.com.
best regards,
Matt Bacon

RE: Remembering Revell in Potters Bar
The Potters Bar Historical Society has done some digging on this and come up with a bit, but no passed staff. They report that the operation came to Potters Bar from Slough to a site next to Knights on the Cranborne Industrial Estate for reasons of convenience. In the 1969-71 Town Guide they are credited with making toys and model kits. In 1969 they had 20 men and 100 women working on the site, half of whom were administration local staff. Does anyone know people who used to work for them?
